Turbine wheel

Product description: Two-stage axial turbine disk for use in manually-operated compressed air tools

Workpiece data: Exterior diameter: 34.00 mm; interior diameter: 9.00 mm; height: 7.00 mm; eroded surface: 844 mm²; materials: 1.2083, 1.2365, 1.4034 or 1.4571

PEM task: Precise and inexpensive manufacture of turbine disks. Complex blade geometry (40 outer blades and 16 inner blades with wall thicknesses ranging from 0.16 to 0.79 mm) for optimum effectiveness and therefore reduced turbine construction volume.

PEM solution: Positive electrode made of brass CuSn39Pb3, HSC-milled, serves towards manufacturing the negative electrode with the negative blade profile. This is a round blank made of stainless steel 1.4034 and with a thickness of 0.5 mm. Alternatively, this round blank could also be wire-cut or lasered.

Process parameters: Generator current of 1000 A, erosion depth of 5.00 mm, feed rate of 0.12 mm/min., machining time of 42 min., surface roughness of Ra < 0.2 µm
